Project Description
When asked to create a sensory garden for a family with an autistic child it was a challenge I was excited about. The mid terrace house, had a small 45m2 garden with an 8ft trampoline and small wendy house, both which the client wanted to keep.
The garden was designed at a 45 degree angle to make the space feel bigger than it actually is. It was a key feature of this garden to ensure all five senses would be stimulated. We put in a water feature as the focal point in the design, which allowed for fantastic sight, sound and touch experiences. To meet the taste and smell elements we planted a variety of aromatic and edible plants and herbs. Whilst focusing on the senses it was also important to make it a family space, one which contained areas for relaxation and family activities.
